February weather: the first hint of spring
February warms up steadily. Typical highs climb from the low 60s at the start of the month to the high 60s by the end, averaging around 63–65°F (17–18°C), while overnight lows sit near 42–45°F (6–7°C). Sunshine is generous, roughly nine hours a day, and February is statistically one of the wetter winter months, which still only means three or four days with measurable rain and the occasional Pacific storm that drops half an inch overnight and clears by lunch.
Wind picks up as spring approaches. Late February can bring gusty afternoons that make the pedestrian bridges and outdoor patios uncomfortable, and pool decks at the few open pools feel colder than the thermometer says. Day-to-night swings remain large, so a 68°F afternoon at the Bellagio fountains becomes a 45°F walk back to the hotel. Mornings are cool and clear, ideal for hiking, and the light on the red rock west of the city is at its best this time of year.
Super Bowl weekend: the biggest sports weekend of the year
Super Bowl Sunday typically falls in the first half of February, and the surrounding weekend is the single busiest sports weekend on the Las Vegas calendar, whether or not the game is played here. Every sportsbook sells reserved seating for viewing parties, usually with a food-and-drink credit attached, and the larger books at Circa, Caesars Palace, Westgate and Resorts World sell out weeks ahead. Nightclubs book headline DJs, resorts throw ballroom viewing parties and restaurants run game-day menus.
Hotel rates for Friday and Saturday of Super Bowl weekend typically run at or near the highest of the year, with two- or three-night minimums at many Strip resorts. Sunday night, by contrast, is often cheap, because most visitors fly home after the game. If you want the atmosphere without the price, arrive Sunday morning, watch at a bar or a smaller book, and stay through Tuesday. Valentine's Day and Presidents' Day
Valentine's Day lands in mid-February and Las Vegas treats it as a serious weekend, whether the 14th falls on a weekend or not. The wedding chapels run at capacity, fine-dining restaurants sell prix-fixe menus that need booking two to three weeks ahead, and the couples-focused resorts like Wynn, Bellagio and Cosmopolitan price the nearest weekend accordingly. Presidents' Day weekend, in the second half of the month, is a three-day holiday for much of the country and brings a noticeable bump in leisure crowds, especially from Southern California, which drives in. Expect the I-15 to be slow Friday evening and Monday afternoon, weekend rates roughly 50–100% above the surrounding weeknights, and full pools at the handful of resorts that have reopened early. Between these events, the plain midweek nights of February are consistently good value.
Crowds and hotel prices: three peaks and quiet valleys
February is a shoulder month with spikes. The pattern is easy to read: Super Bowl weekend, Valentine's weekend and Presidents' Day weekend each push rates high, and the Monday-to-Thursday nights between them fall back to near-January levels. A mid-Strip resort that charges a premium on Super Bowl Saturday can be a third of that price the following Tuesday. Weekday versus weekend swings are among the largest of the year this month, so if your dates are flexible, shift them to midweek and you will feel the difference immediately.
Crowd levels behave the same way. Weekend Strip sidewalks are full, the big buffets have lines and rideshare pickup areas back up after the game or the fireworks. Midweek, the city is calm, shows are easy to book and the casino floors are relaxed. February also has a few mid-size conventions, mostly at the Las Vegas Convention Center and Mandalay Bay, that fill rooms on the north and south ends of the Strip without affecting the center much. Pool status in February
Officially, February is still off-season for pools. Most of the big complexes remain closed, and the ones that open earliest, typically in late February or the first days of March, do so with reduced hours and only partial areas of the deck. Resorts with a year-round heated pool, which has historically included Aria, Bellagio, Cosmopolitan, Wynn and Encore among others, keep it running for hotel guests and it is pleasant in the midday sun, though the water can be warmer than the air.
Do not plan a February trip around pool time. Plan it around the spas, which are excellent and uncrowded, and treat a sunny hour by a heated pool as a bonus. What to pack for February
February packing is the same layered approach as January with slightly lighter pieces. A mid-weight jacket handles most evenings, and the afternoons are warm enough for a T-shirt in the sun. Bring one warm layer for late nights and for any desert day trip, where it is several degrees colder than the Strip and often windy.

Best things to do and who February suits
February is a great month for the desert. Red Rock Canyon, Valley of Fire and Hoover Dam are all at their most comfortable, and the wildflower season begins in late February in a wet year. On the Strip it is a strong month for shows and dining: the Cirque productions, residencies and Sphere have good availability midweek, and the Chinese New Year celebrations, which often fall in late January or February, bring elaborate decorations to Bellagio, Wynn, Palazzo and Resorts World, along with special dim sum and banquet menus.
Couples: ideal, especially around Valentine's if you book early. Sports fans: Super Bowl weekend is the reason to come, and the NBA All-Star and college basketball calendars add to the sportsbook energy. Budget travelers: good midweek, poor on the three big weekends. Families: reasonable, with cheap rooms and comfortable weather, but no pools; see Las Vegas with kids. Conventions: a few mid-size shows, none as disruptive as January's CES.
