Where the tradition comes from
Elvis married Priscilla at the Aladdin in 1967, and the movie Viva Las Vegas had already tied him to the city for good. In the late 1970s, after his death, Graceland Wedding Chapel began offering ceremonies with an Elvis tribute artist as the officiant, and the idea spread along the Boulevard until the Elvis wedding became Las Vegas's signature export. Today it is the thing overseas visitors most often ask for, and chapels perform thousands a year.
The format is consistent. Elvis, in a white or gold jumpsuit, walks one of you down the aisle to a song (usually "Can't Help Falling in Love" or "Love Me Tender"), performs a short, real ceremony with a few well-worn jokes, has you repeat Elvis-flavoured vows if you want them (promising never to step on each other's blue suede shoes), pronounces you married and sings you back out to "Viva Las Vegas". Ten to twenty minutes, and better than it sounds, because the good performers are genuinely good singers and genuinely licensed officiants.
The 2022 licensing fuss, and where things stand
In 2022 the company that controls Elvis Presley's name and likeness sent cease-and-desist letters to several Las Vegas chapels over the use of the Elvis name and image in their marketing, which caused a brief panic that Elvis weddings might end. They did not. After a public backlash and negotiations, the chapels reached licensing arrangements or adjusted how they market the ceremonies, and Elvis weddings have continued much as before. As of 2026, the major chapels still offer them openly.
What it means for you: you may see wording like "the King", "tribute artist" or "rock and roll ceremony" on some websites, and some smaller chapels may have dropped the theme. Availability and terms can change, so check the chapel's current package page rather than an old blog post. The ceremony itself is unaffected; the officiant is a licensed Nevada minister first and a performer second.
Graceland Wedding Chapel: the original
If you want the canonical Elvis wedding, this is it. Graceland Wedding Chapel on Las Vegas Boulevard has performed Elvis ceremonies since the late 1970s, its performers are widely regarded as the best in the city, and it has the celebrity history to match, including Jon Bon Jovi's wedding and a stream of touring bands renewing vows on tour. The chapel is small, white and traditional inside, which makes the jumpsuit funnier and the photos better.
Packages as of 2026 roughly run from around $400 for a simple Elvis ceremony for two to $1,500-plus with photography, limo, flowers and additional songs. Most include Elvis singing two or three numbers; you can add more. Book early for weekends and for any evening slot; the chapel is popular with overseas couples who plan months ahead. Other chapels that do it well
Viva Las Vegas Wedding Chapel, in the wedding district, is the home of themed weddings: several Elvis eras (young Elvis, Vegas Elvis, a pink Cadillac Elvis where the car drives into the chapel), plus everything from gangster to Egyptian to gothic ceremonies. The production values are theatrical and the guest capacity is larger than most, with a reception space and hotel rooms on site.
Little White Wedding Chapel offers Elvis packages including the drive-through with Elvis leaning out of the window, which is either the most or least romantic option depending on your outlook. Sure Thing Chapel does budget Elvis ceremonies at some of the lowest prices in the city. Chapel of the Flowers can arrange Elvis for a polished chapel wedding. What it costs and what you get
The Elvis element adds roughly $150 to $400 to a chapel package as of 2026, depending on how many songs and whether he arrives in a car. A complete Elvis wedding for two, including chapel, officiant, a few photos, a bouquet and two or three songs, typically lands between $400 and $900; add a photographer, limo and reception and you are at $1,200 to $2,500. The marriage licence, roughly $100 to $110, is always separate. Gratuity for Elvis is expected and usually suggested at checkout; $50 to $100 is normal.
Read the fine print on songs and photos. Some packages include one song and charge per additional; the walk-in, the ceremony and the send-off are three separate moments, so three songs is the natural minimum. Photo packages work as at every chapel: a handful of images included, more sold afterwards, and possible restrictions on outside photographers.
Making it good rather than merely funny
- Book the performer, not just the chapel. Ask who the Elvis will be and look him up. The best have real voices and years on stage.
- Pick your songs. "Can't Help Falling in Love" for the aisle, "Burning Love" or "Viva Las Vegas" for the exit. "Suspicious Minds" is a bold choice for a wedding.
- Decide on the vows in advance. You can have the Elvis-themed vows, standard vows or your own. Mixing a sincere personal vow with the Elvis intro and outro works surprisingly well.
- Dress for it. A full wedding dress and suit against a jumpsuit is a better photo than matching costumes; but if you want to go full 1950s, Las Vegas has rental shops for that too.
- Hire a real photographer. The moment Elvis walks in is the shot you will keep forever; do not leave it to a 12-image package.
- Add the pink Cadillac. The ride down the Boulevard past the Strip sights after the ceremony is half the fun.
Fitting it into the trip
Most Elvis chapels are on the north Boulevard between the Strat and downtown, ten to twenty minutes from center Strip hotels. Get the licence at the bureau the day before, book an afternoon or early-evening slot, and plan dinner afterwards on Fremont Street or back on the Strip.
