How the Las Vegas concert landscape works
Las Vegas venues fall into three tiers. The stadium and arenas, Allegiant Stadium, T-Mobile Arena and MGM Grand Garden Arena, host touring acts on regular arena or stadium tours. Sphere is its own category, hosting multi-week residencies in a building that reinvents what a concert looks like. Then there are the residency theaters, each built inside a resort for a specific scale of show: the Colosseum at Caesars Palace, Dolby Live at Park MGM, Resorts World Theatre, BleauLive Theater at Fontainebleau and Bakkt Theater at Planet Hollywood, where headline artists play runs of shows rather than a single night.
The practical difference for you is timing. Arena tour dates are announced months ahead and sell in one on-sale; residencies release dates in blocks throughout the year and often add shows, so a sold-out run may reopen. Sphere
Capacity around 17,600 seated, up to about 20,000 with a floor. Sphere sits behind the Venetian and is reached by a footbridge from the resort or a ten-minute walk from the Strip. The interior screen wraps above and around the entire audience, the sound system delivers the same mix to every seat and the floor haptics are real. Residencies by rock and electronic acts have run for weeks at a time; the Sphere Experience film plays on other days. The best seats are in the lower and middle sections of the 300 and 400 levels facing the stage, where the wraparound screen is fully visible; front-floor and the first rows of the 100s are close to the artist but see less of the screen. T-Mobile Arena and MGM Grand Garden Arena
T-Mobile Arena holds about 20,000 for an end-stage concert and is the city's default stop for major arena tours. It sits behind New York-New York and Park MGM on the center Strip and is walkable from most of the Strip, with a wide plaza outside for pre-show drinks. Sightlines are excellent throughout; the lower bowl at the sides of the stage and the first rows of the upper level at center are the value picks. Our T-Mobile Arena guide has the details.
MGM Grand Garden Arena holds around 16,800 and is inside MGM Grand at the Tropicana Avenue corner, next to the monorail. It is the older building and it feels it, but it hosts big tours, boxing, award shows and the odd residency. Floor seats are flat, so a general-admission floor spot far back sees little; a lower-bowl seat is a safer buy. Parking in the MGM Grand garage is the easiest of any arena in town.
Allegiant Stadium for stadium concerts
Capacity roughly 65,000 for a stadium concert. Allegiant Stadium hosts the biggest touring acts, and because the roof is closed and the building is air-conditioned, summer stadium shows that would be brutal outdoors are comfortable. The stadium is a 15 to 20 minute walk from Mandalay Bay and Luxor over the Hacienda Avenue bridge; there is almost no public parking and rideshare after a show is slow, so plan to walk to a south-Strip resort. Bag rules are the NFL clear-bag standard, which catches concert-goers out more than football fans.
Best seats are the lower-bowl sideline sections near the stage end, followed by the club level; the far end of the upper deck is a long way from an end stage. Floor tickets are general admission for many tours. See the Allegiant Stadium guide for transport and rules.
The residency theaters: Colosseum, Dolby Live, Resorts World Theatre
The Colosseum at Caesars Palace (about 4,300 seats) is the original residency venue, built for Celine Dion and since hosting a long list of headline singers and rock acts. It is steep, intimate and every seat is close by arena standards; the 100-level center is the money seat, but the 200s are excellent value. It is inside Caesars Palace on the center Strip.
Dolby Live at Park MGM (about 5,200) hosts pop and rock residencies with a superb sound system, a general-admission floor for some shows and a comfortable balcony. It is steps from T-Mobile Arena and the Park promenade. Resorts World Theatre (about 5,000) is the newest of the three, north Strip, with wide sightlines and no seat farther than about 150 feet from the stage; the orchestra and first mezzanine rows are best. Residency tickets at all three run as of 2026 from around $100 in the upper sections to several hundred near the stage; check the venue and artist sites for on-sale blocks.
BleauLive Theater and Bakkt Theater
BleauLive Theater at Fontainebleau (around 3,800) opened with the resort in 2023 on the north Strip and hosts a mix of residencies, one-off concerts and comedy. It is a modern, well-appointed room with a lounge feel in the lower sections and strong sound; the orchestra center and first balcony rows are ideal, and nothing is a bad seat. Bakkt Theater at Planet Hollywood (about 7,000) is the largest of the theaters and has hosted long pop residencies. It is on the center Strip inside Planet Hollywood and next to the Miracle Mile Shops, so it is easy to reach on foot and by rideshare. The floor sections are flat, so seats in the first raised tiers can be better than the back of the floor; the mezzanine center gives the full production view.
Picking seats and buying smart
- Look at the seat map with the stage configuration. A residency with a thrust stage moves the sweet spots; the venue map shows the layout for that run.
- Side-view seats are heavily discounted at the arenas and are fine for concerts where the screens matter more than the sightline.
- Residency runs often add shows after the initial sell-out, and midweek dates are cheaper than weekends.
- Resale drops on the day are common for arena tours, rare for Sphere residencies and headline residency artists.
- Hotel pairing: stay at the venue's resort or a neighbor so the walk home is short. See where to stay.
